South Africa is well known for its magnificent rock art. An important cultural heritage, it strikes chords in almost all who are fortunate enough to see it on the rock face. Echoing, as it does, a world which no longer exists, it has long enticed researchers to try and find its meaning.

Africa’s rock art is a threatened and an irreplaceable resource, and is common heritage of all Africans and of all people. It is the duty of every individual to make every possible effort to protect and save this fast disappearing cultural heritage of ours.
